Teboho Khantsi and Phetetso Monese prepared for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with a great performance in the UCI World Mountian Bike Marathon Championships held in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on 29th June 2014.

88 of the best riders in the world lined up for the 95km race, which had been billed as a very tough marathon course.

Phetetso had the ride of his life and spent most of the race well inside the top 50. A loss of air in his rear tyre in the last 10km caused him to lose a few places and he came home in an impressive 52nd position.
Phetetso has a slight build with great power-to-weight ratio and we always knew he would do well at the longer marathon distance. He exceeded expectations, beating many big name South African riders in the process.

Despite being a great road rider, Teboho has not built up his mountain bike endurance yet. He performed well for much of the race, but ran out of steam towards the end, and compounded by a series of late punctures finished in 77th position – the last rider to finish the gruelling course.sinopsis film

The highlight? Standing on the stage for the opening ceremony with a big Lesotho flag and our sponsor’s logo “The Sufferfest” on the backdrop.
